Since 2021, most toys sold in India must carry the BIS Standard Mark under the Toys (Quality Control) Order. On the packaging, look for the ISI mark alongside a licence number.
Beyond the mark, three things matter for the under-threes: no detachable parts small enough to pass through a 32mm tube, no cords longer than 22cm, and non-toxic paint.
If a listing does not state an age range, treat that as a warning rather than an oversight.
